The fight for the SEC East continues as Georgia football heads to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt. Here is our preview of the matchup.

The Georgia Bulldogs are soaring at a high no one thought was possible. The team, led by a stout defense and talented running game have sky rocked to number five in the nation and are looking to stay hot against Vanderbilt. This team is coming off two huge SEC wins in which they have outscored opponents 72-3. They’re no joke for sure.

After a quick and shocking start to the season, Vanderbilt has come to a screeching halt. The Commodores took down number 18 Kansas State, but was then routed by Alabama 59-0. They followed that up with a loss to Florida, 38-24.

The Commodores now sit at 3-2 and are looking for their first SEC win. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are flying high at 5-0 and looking to solidify their place atop the SEC East. This game seems pretty lopsided on paper, but don’t count out the Commodores. They started fast for a reason. This team has the talent, the question is can they put it to use against a top team.

Here is how you can watch the matchup:

Keys to Victory

For Georgia, the keys to the game are pretty self explanatory. They just need to play their game. The Vanderbilt offense has never been elite, and the Bulldog defense must exploit that fact. They will need to get to quarterback Kyle Shurmur and throw him off his game early.

On the offensive side of the ball, they need to get the ball into Nick Chubb’s hands early and often. It is no secret that Chubb is a major part of the offense. If he can get to churning, much like he has to date, there is no stopping this Georgia offense.

If Vanderbilt wants a chance at this one, they will have to get in their offensive grove and fight off a surging Georgia defense. That defense is what has rocketed them into the top five and what has the ability to keep them there as the season wears on.

Prediction

The Georgia Bulldogs are riding high and it doesn’t seem like they will be stopping anytime soon. The offense is clicking and the defense has been dominant. A win over Vanderbilt, which is quite likely, will be a great boost for them in the SEC East race.

While Vanderbilt has a talented team, I don’t seem them having enough to overpower Georgia. The Bulldogs win this one by a big margin and the Commodores fall even further in the East. They will get on the board, something Tennessee failed to do last week, but it won’t be enough to overcome the Bulldogs offensive numbers.

Final Score: Georgia 35, Vanderbilt 7
