Texas Football: Preview, prediction, live stream vs. Kansas State
Texas football will host Kansas State in an important Week 6 battle between Big 12 foes. Here’s everything you need to know.
Entering the second game in Big 12 play, the team that’s on the rise is the one most probably wouldn’t expect as Texas and Kansas State take the field.
With a record of 2-1 in their last two games, the Texas Longhorns appear to be getting on the right track with first year head coach Tom Herman. If you were to take a look at this team as they dropped their season opener to the Maryland Terrapins, it’s a much more different team. It’s a team that finally has a sense of themselves as they bounced back from a loss to USC to dispatch Iowa State last week.
As for Kansas State, the hope for an explosive offense at the start of the season has fans wondering if the Wildcats can find any offensive consistency. With seven dropped passes vs. Vanderbilt and five drops against Baylor last week, lacking in the area of offensive consistency is the last thing Bill Snyder wants traveling to Austin.

Matchup to Watch: Kansas State’s offense vs. Texas’ defense
This matchup will determine the ballgame. One thing about the Texas defense is that despite giving up big plays, the Horns defense always manages to pick up a huge turnover. They’ve done it all season long and they face an offense who’s mostly conservative but struggling to find consistency.
I have noted many times that the Kansas State offense is like an off-speed pitcher in a fastball league. In order for the Wildcats to have some success against the Longhorns, they’ll need to have some balance in their offensive attack. Although quarterback Jesse Ertz had over 100 yards on the ground and through the air last week, the Wildcats are going to need more contributions from guys like running back Justin Silmon and wide receiver Byron Pringle.
Prediction
Sitting at 3-1 entering a pivotal stretch of the season, we will see what Tom Herman is made of. We are going to see why Texas brought him in. Although it would be easy to look ahead and think about Oklahoma next week but Tom Herman has stressed that every game, especially in the conference is important.

At home, under the lights and riding the wave of a win from the week before I’ve the got the Texas Longhorns winning this one. In order to be a player in the Big 12 race, Kansas State will need to be much more consistent on offense and score about 30-35 points a game. I’m not sure this offense, with all the drops and inconsistent play can do that against Malik Jefferson and company.
Final Score: Texas 28, Kansas State 20
