Virginia Tech football will travel to Boston College to take on the Eagles in Week 6. Here’s everything you need to know.

Justin Fuente has brought the winning atmosphere back to Blacksburg. The Virginia Tech head coach has done wonders with this program, replacing Frank Beamer, but his Hokies are coming off their first loss of the season against Clemson.

The Hokies will get a chance to rebound against a far less threatening opponent in Boston College. However, road games in the ACC can be dangerous. Josh Jackson will be hitting the road for just the second time in his career — not sure if you can count the Week 1 neutral site game. Will that have any affect on his performance?

Boston College, on the other hand, hasn’t had the same defensive dominance this season as it’s had in years past. In fact, the Eagles are just 2-3 on the season and have allowed over 400 yards of total offense per game. On top of that, their offense has been lethargic, averaging just 17 points per game, compared to 29 given up each week.

The Eagles need a win this week in order to keep their bowl hopes alive. Dropping to 2-4 this early in the season could be an absolute back-breaker, especially since the schedule doesn’t get any easier.

Here’s how you can watch Saturday’s Virginia Tech vs. Boston College game:

Date: Saturday, Oct. 7
Time: 7:15 p.m. ET
Location: Boston, Mass.
Venue: BC Alumni Stadium
TV: ESPN2
Live Stream: WatchESPN

Keys to Victory

Josh Jackson is going to need to remain level-headed in this one. He needs not let the road crowd get in his head as the true freshman should just keep doing what he’s been doing. Jackson doesn’t need a huge game through the air or with his legs, but remaining calm under pressure will be the biggest key in this one. Keeping Jackson upright and confident will be crucial.

Boston College must make the Hokies beat them with the ground game. As mentioned above, Jackson and Phillips are a lethal combination and they can take over any game. If the Eagles can force errors in the passing attack, the Hokies will be forced to find something else to work. The run game does average about 192 yards per game, but that’s not Virginia Tech’s strength.

Prediction

Virginia Tech is going to get the first punch in this one and Boston College just simply won’t have the firepower to respond. The game will be the Josh Jackson show as he goes for over 250 yards passing and another 75 rushing as the Hokies burst out to a huge lead and a late field goal and touchdown by the Eagles will make it look closer than it actually was.

Final Score: Virginia Tech 35, Boston College 17
