1. The powerhouses of old look bad

As there is much talk about the SEC being down and their struggles, I just want to take a moment to mention that these schools used to be national championship caliber teams each year. Not so long ago, the SEC was more than just Bama.

Today as I watched these teams struggles against one another, I couldn’t help but think of the days when these two teams were the cream of the crop. Florida has gone from a fun and gun high scoring offense to a pro-style that frankly, is not fun to watch.

LSU, however, did at times have those sparks of what they once were. The power run game from the Tigers has been something that punished defenses and still does today but it’s clear it’s not quite on the same level.

For the SEC to return to any bit of glory from days old, these two teams must begin an ascent in the College Football landscape. Hopefully soon, this game will be two great teams battling it out, rather than two struggling teams just trying to make it to the Liberty Bowl.
