1. Avoiding a messy situation

If J.T. Barrett was benched, and things got worse for Ohio State, it would be a mess. It seems like a risk that Urban Meyer and the coaching staff aren’t willing to take.

In a way, J.T. Barrett has earned the right to play the entire season. From the records he has, to the captaincy, it would take an unthinkably bad game for a benching.

Just imagine a situation where Barrett was benched and Ohio State still couldn’t score. In this scenario, it would stink for the Buckeyes to have an all-time quarterback wasting eligibility on the bench.

J.T. Barrett probably won’t be an NFL quarterback, but he’s a good college player. This season is likely his last so he should be laying it all out there for the rest of the year.
