1. The Auburn Tigers are a legit national title contender

You can knock the quality of competition that Auburn has faced so far, outside of Clemson, and argue that Auburn hasn’t faced someone to prove that their a title team, but they certainly look capable of winning a title.

The defense is about as good as you’re going to find. While the Tigers gave up some yards and touchdowns after the game against Ole Miss was all but decided, but before that the defense was pretty stout. Auburn may have allowed the Rebels into the redzone but when they did they clamped down.

The offense as of now is humming. As discussed, Kerryon Johnson is impressive and he say’s he’s not even 100 percent back from that hamstring injury. Jarrett Stidham has improved over the past two weeks to show that he can capably lead this offense. So yes, Auburn is definitely up there with Alabama and Georgia, as the three SEC teams that have separated themselves from the rest of the conference.

Auburn might get more love from their detractors over the next few weeks as they face LSU, Arkansas, and Texas A&M (all on the road) over the next three games. But people forget that Auburn went to Clemson and held their offense to only 14 points and only lost by a touchdown. That says something about your teams to go to Clemson and play them that well.

Two out of the last three games for Auburn will decide its season, as it’ll face Georgia and Alabama. It won’t be an easy task, but those games could both be top 10 matchups. As of now, Auburn is real and should be treated as such.
