The first college football weekend in October has come and passed. Week 6 was full of excitement from Iowa State’s upset win to the Michigan-Michigan State rivalry game.

This is the fifth installment of “overreaction Monday” for the 2017 college football season. Last week, I went ahead and ended the Heisman race early and gave the trophy to Penn State’s Saquon Barkley and Texas didn’t lose last week. So I guess you can say I went two for three last week.

To begin Week 7, let’s first take a look back at my “overreactions” from Week 6.

3. Jim Harbaugh is bad in big games

He wears the khakis, he makes great soundbites for the media to use, and you know he genuinely loves the game of football. Jim Harbaugh bleeds Michigan football and is the man for the job, but he has not be too great in big games so far in his college career.

During his tenure at Michigan, he is 1-4 against Michigan’s big rivals. Last weekend, he lost to an unranked Michigan State Spartans team at home. This definitely didn’t sit well with the Michigan faithful. He is also 2-3 in against ranked Big Ten opponents. And he’s 1-1 in bowl games.

But even in his Stanford days, he had troubles in some of these areas. He was 4-2 against Stanford’s big rivals. He was 6-8 against ranked Pac-12 opponents and was 1-1 in bowl games

I am not calling for his job that would be foolish, but Jim Harbaugh and his teams have a tendency to lose big games. He needs to fix that soon.

He plays his next ranked Big Ten opponent on Oct. 21 when he goes to play Penn State at Happy Valley.
