Wisconsin Football: 3 bold predictions vs Maryland
2. Mayrland’s quarterback woes continue in Madison
It’s been a tough year to be a member of Maryland’s quarterback room. It seems like every few weeks another Terps’ signal caller is sidelined with a season-ending injury, with three different quarterback under center over Maryland’s first six games of the 2017 college football season. And this inconsistency has really shown.
With former third-string quarterback Max Bortenschlager now firmly entrenched as the team’s starting quarterback, the Terrapin’s offense has become a shell of their early season selves.
After scoring an insane 114 points over the first two games of the season largely behind the arms of sophomore quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome and freshman signal caller Kasim Hill, Maryland has since only recorded 76 points over the team’s next four games, with three of these games ultimately resulting in decisive losses.
This offensive ineptitude should continue as the Terrapin’s travel west to face off against the Big Ten West’s lone undefeated team, the Wisconsin Badgers.

Wisconsin’s passing defense has been one of the best in the entire nation, having only given up 1,117 total yards through the air over their first six games of the season, good for the ninth best mark of any team in the nation.
Wisconsin has picked off nine passes over the team’s first six games, an incredibly impressive feat when compared to the five touchdowns the Badgers’ have allowed through the air. Simply put, Wisconsin’s secondary is a unit to be feared, especially against Maryland’s less than prolific offense.
While the Terps have only thrown three interceptions so far this season, two of which can be credited to Max Bortenschlager, this could very well change if the game becomes out of hand, and Maryland has to attempt to defeat the Badgers through the air.
Maryland has been absolutely starved for consistent production from the quarterback position over their last four games, but it’s extremely unlikely that the Terps will suddenly find any against the Wisconsin Badgers’ sixth ranked defense.
