4. Keller Chryst gaining confidence

It might just be two games, but Keller Chryst is gaining confidence since coming back from an injury. Things were looking grim for the senior gunslinger from Palo Alto, Calif., when he completed just 10-of-23 passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns with two picks against San Diego State and in limited time vs. UCLA.

Chryst sat out during the Arizona State game, but he had to sit back and watch as KJ Costello became a star before everyone’s eyes against the Bruins and Sun Devils. He regained his job in Week 7 versus Utah, completing 8-of-15 passes for 131 yards and he rushed for another score. It wasn’t a breakout performance, by any means, but it was a good start.

After shaking off some rust against Utah, Chryst played even better against Oregon in a Week 8 blowout of the Ducks. He was 15-for-21 passing with 181 yards, three touchdowns and just one interception. He is now 23-for-36 with 312 yards and three touchdowns since coming back.

Against the nation’s third-worst passing defense, Chryst is going to gain even more confidence and he’ll look like a top passer in the Pac-12 against the Beavers.
