This is easily the biggest snub of the week as Ohio State is coming off a 39-38 win over No. 2 Penn State and the Buckeyes were only listed as the No. 6 team in the initial playoff rankings.

Just how big of a snub was that? The Buckeyes were ranked No. 6 in the country in the AP last week when they beat the Nittany Lions in Columbus. How can you beat the second-ranked team in the country when ranked No. 6 and remain in that spot in the first playoff poll? That’s a good question, but the committee must know something we don’t.

Ohio State will need to win out and win the Big Ten title game in order to make the College Football Playoff this season, but the Buckeyes have the best chance of anyone in the conference. Penn State is right behind in the first playoff poll at No. 7.

The Buckeyes have been solid this season outside of a loss to Oklahoma at home. Baker Mayfield and the Sooners are No. 5 in the rankings despite a loss at home to Iowa State.
