UCLA Football: Preview, prediction, live stream vs. Utah in Week 10
By Dana Becker
All the headlines around Pasadena this week revolve around Josh Rosen and the status of UCLA football’s starting quarterback.
The Bruins will hit the road for a date with Utah this Friday night, and while head coach Jim Mora continues to say Rosen will be good to go, the conversation remains centered on the junior signal-caller.
This is a pivotal contest for both the Bruins (4-4, 2-3 Pac-12) and Utes (4-4, 1-4 Pac-12) as it will be a “Blackout” inside Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. Can that ignite a Utah offense that has become stagnant in recent weeks?
Utah has its own questions at quarterback, as Tyler Huntley has played each of the past two games following an injury, but has thrown just two touchdowns and four interceptions. He did improve his completion percentage last week in a 41-20 loss to Oregon, throwing for almost 300 yards.
However, the once-intimidating Ute rushing attack had just 91 yards on 30 carries, which included a 33-yard burst by Huntley. Zack Moss ran for only 53 yards on 10 carries.
Darren Carrington II rebounded with nine catches and 130 yards, showing a consistent connection with Huntley.
UCLA fell to 1-2 in its last three with a 44-23 setback at Washington. Rosen was 12-of-21 for 93 yards before going down with an injury. Replacement Devon Modster completed 7-of-12 for 77 yards and a touchdown, but like Utah, the Bruins ran for just 62 yards on 28 carries.

Keys to Victory
With Huntley gaining traction and Rosen banged up, who gets going on the ground will likely determine the winner in this one.
Utah has Moss and Huntley is a dual-threat, but playing at less than 100 percent has the quarterback being neutralized to stay in the pocket. If Moss can get going like he did earlier this year, the Utes should have the upper-hand.
Moss, a sophomore, started the year off with 128 yards vs. North Dakota but didn’t reach triple digits again until Oct. 14 when he rumbled for 141 in a one-point loss to USC.
Soso Jamabo continues to be a disappointment, as the arrived on the UCLA campus a highly-regarded recruit. Bolu Olorunfunmi has yet to become a strong contributor in the ground attack for the Bruins either.
Jamabo has just 343 yards this year and just over 1,000 in his three-year UCLA career. That does include a 100-yard game vs. Stanford earlier this year.

Prediction
Huntley plays like the quarterback Utah had earlier this year when they were 4-0 heading into October. Without his big-arm and ability to run with the football, Carrington has struggled. Look for a big game out of the Oregon transfer as UCLA tries to play either with an injured Rosen or Modster at quarterback. A win by Utah would snap a four-game losing streak that includes two losses by a combined four points to USC and Stanford.
Final Score: Utah 27, UCLA 20
