Stanford Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Washington State in Week 10
Mike Leach will have to get Washington State to bounce back after the upset loss to Arizona while Stanford is playing well of late.
The Washington State Cougars have been upset once again. This time by the Arizona Wildcats who are now 6-2 and ranked 19th in the S&P+ from Bill C. The Cougs enter Week 10 with a record of 7-2 and ranked No. 23 in the S&P+ rankings.
Wazzu will have to settle on a quarterback between Washington State’s passing leader Luke Falk and Tyler Hilinski, the sophomore who has replaced the former multiple times this season. Hilinski threw for over 500 yards and two touchdowns with four interceptions in the loss to Arizona. Falk only threw for 4.0 yards per attempt against the Wildcats.
Stanford enters the contest on a five-game winning streak. They’re 6-2 overall and ranked 19th in the S&P+. However, the Cardinal barely edged the Oregon State Beavers 15-14 — the same Beavers who don’t even have their head coach anymore. Stanford is led on the ground by Bryce Love who is rushing for 10.3 yards per carry on 1300+ yards and 11 touchdowns.
Stanford’s passing game has been non-existent. This will be a battle of the Wazzu air-raid, if they can settle on a quarterback, and the Stanford power-run scheme loaded with tight ends and fullbacks. Alex Grinch will have to come off a spread option game plan and focus on a more traditional offense reminiscent of the 1990s.
Here are my three bold predictions for the game.
