2. Bryce Love won’t rush for over 125 yards

Alex Grinch’s defense keeps Bryce Love under 125 yards rushing. This will be his toughest defensive test yet as the Cougs are ranked 24th on defense by the S&P+ and are outplaying their offense every week of the season.

The offense hasn’t done the Cougs’ defense a lot of favors, but I can see the Wazzu offense running much better, even if Luke Falk struggles, because Mike Leach will demand it to.

For Love to have a “bad” game, I couldn’t even get bold enough to say he’ll run for under 100 yards. Against the Oregon Ducks, my bold prediction was that they would hold him to under 150.

Love has been so dynamic with the football that he ran for 300 yards against an improving Arizona State defense, and 8.6 yards per carry against the Ducks in a blowout. Love will get 100, but he’ll be limited to his lowest yards per carry of the season which was 7.6 against Utah.

The Utes’ defense ranks 43rd in the S&P+ while the Cougs are 25th in the S&P+. Wazzu defensive coordinator Alex Grinch will find a way to stop Love and force Keller Chryst to beat them. Chryst has been mediocre throwing for 6.68 yards per passing attempt on the season.
