1. Revenge factor along with recent history

Believe it or not, revenge is one of the biggest factors when speaking of reasons a team will upset another. Stanford was demolished by the eventual playoff-bound Huskies, 44-6. While you might be thinking that the blowout wasn’t that big of a surprise seeing as the Huskies made the playoff and Stanford struggled a bit, but that was a top-10 battle at the time.

Stanford was embarrassed as the No. 7 team in college football and it could be argued that the Washington loss was the motivation killer on the year. Stanford had a pedestrian season after that, but you know the Cardinal didn’t forget it.

David Shaw will be harping payback with his team all week and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Stanford exact revenge at home against the Huskies. Add that to the fact Stanford could knock the Huskies out of the playoff race and this has all the makings of a revenge, and then some, game.

Oh yeah, and the Cardinal have won seven of the last nine games in this series, so Shaw knows what it takes to beat the Huskies.
