1. Florida State’s bold hopes are still alive

Believe it or not, Florida State is still on track to record a bowl berth after starting the season just 3-6. The Seminoles beat Delaware State by 71 points to improve to 4-6 on the year, which may not seem like a huge win morally, but this team was as down as any in the country after the first two months.

Keeping those bowl hopes alive, Jimbo Fisher and the Seminoles can now look ahead to a matchup with rival Florida next weekend and with how poorly the Gators have been playing, it seems to be a sure win. Moreover, the Gators are without a head coach as Jim McElwain was let go a couple of weeks ago.

It’s hard to take much from a win over Delaware State, but when a team that had been reeling all year can put all the distractions aside and win by 71 points, that says a lot about its will to make a postseason play.

The Seminoles need to win out in order to reach the postseason and with two very winnable games left on the schedule, it seems likely. Hard to believe after this incredibly ugly start to the year.
