Florida State Football: 3 takeaways from blowout win over Delaware State

2. James Blackman can build on this performance

Yes, I get it. Florida State played Delaware State and not Alabama so we should pump the brakes on the praise for the Seminoles, right? In some ways, yes, but when it pertains to starting quarterback James Blackman who has been beat up more than just about anyone this season, he needs more praise for solid games like this.

While he didn’t wow anyone with his numbers no did he catch the eye of other teams around the country, Blackman’s performance had to make Jimbo Fisher feel good. He put trust in the young gunslinger and a game like this could boost his confidence moving forward.

Last week’s tough loss against Clemson was a confidence-builder as well even though he didn’t play well late and made some costly mistakes. He did, however, keep the Seminoles in the game, for the most part, and that confidence carried over into this one.

All Blackman has to do now is build on this performance as he passed for __ yards and __ touchdowns. Can he do so against Florida next weekend?
