1. Charlie Brewer has a bright future

Despite the fact that the Bears went just 1-11 this season, they had one of the more intriguing quarterbacks in the conference. Freshman Charlie Brewer from Austin, Texas, probably wasn’t expecting to play so much this season, but he has emerged as a future star in the program.

There’s hope for Baylor football and it begins with the young gunslinger. Zach Smith is just a sophomore and will be an adequate backup next season, but Brewer passed for over 1,500 yards this season after playing extensively in just five games. He also had 11 touchdown passes and just four interceptions.

Brewer looked solid against TCU’s stout defense on Friday, passing for 301 yards and two touchdowns with an interception, completing 19-of-29 passes and that just goes to show he has a bright future in Waco.

While 1-11 seasons should never be celebrated, this can be used as a learning lesson for Brewer and he will return as a top passer in the Big 12 next season. The future is bright with Brewer under center.
