Scott Frost might not have to leave the state of Florida for his next head coaching job after all. Florida football is now getting involved.

According to a report by ESPN, representatives for the Central Florida head coach are expected to meet with Florida about the head coaching job for the Gators.

Florida and Chip Kelly have been in talks, but Florida officials have lost confidence in their ability to land the former Oregon head coach as he decides between positions. Kelly is believed to be the front-runner for the UCLA vacancy.

Frost, meanwhile, is a former national champion quarterback at Nebraska who has resurrected the Central Florida program in just two seasons. The Golden Knights are currently playing South Florida for the American Athletic Conference division title and a spot in the league championship game.

Following a five-year career in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Frost dove into coaching at his alma mater. He’s also made stops at FCS program Northern Iowa and Oregon before taking over at UCF in 2016.

The Golden Knights finished last year 6-6 before falling to Arkansas State in the Cure Bowl. They are 10-0 at the moment, one of just three unbeatens left in FBS along with Alabama and Wisconsin.

If Central Florida wins out, they will be unbeaten and are likely to earn a spot in the New Year’s Day bowl games as the highest Group of Five school in the College Football Playoff rankings. The Golden Knights sit 15th at the moment.
