2. Rosen would have to learn a new system under Chip Kelly

Honestly, learning a new system as a quarterback is a process. If Josh Rosen were to come back for his senior season with the Bruins, he’d have to learn Chip Kelly’s system. Sure, that same system made Marcus Mariota who he is today.

However, Rosen is entering his final collegiate season and there is probably zero chance he wants to experience much of a change unless it’s on an NFL roster. If he did return, that’d mean he’d learn three different playbooks in as many years. That’s just too much.

On top of that, learning a new system isn’t a guarantee for success. That could mean that Rosen has an off-year because he can never master the playbook that Kelly presented.

No veteran player who has NFL potential wants to stick around and learn a new system at the most complicated position on the field. Does he have the IQ to do so and succeed? Yes. Should he have to? Absolutely not.
