Jacob Copeland is a key target for Florida football and new head coach Dan Mullen. How could the star wide receiver fit with the Gators?
Previously committed to former head coach Jim McElwain and his staff Jacob Copeland decided to decommit from Florida Nov. 25. The reasons for rethinking his commitment were pretty obvious. Florida was in search of a new head coach and it seemed at the time no one on the staff had any clue of where the program was heading.
Now comes new head coach Dan Mullen and company looking to reestablish relations with recruits. Mullen has a great eye for talent so rekindling relations with Copeland was apparent during this recruiting cycle. Copeland’s recruitment has been all over the place after decommiting. After first announcing his decision many experts believed Alabama was a certified destination. However with his main recruiter Jeremy Pruitt taking the head coach position at Tennessee things are started to look a little different.
The Pensacola native is no stranger to the spotlight of recruiting. If anything he embraces it. Copeland has been viewed as some what of a attention seeker on the social media scene, however his play backs It up on the field. While a senior in high school Copeland dominated the competition. Copeland finished the season with 613 receiving yards while hauling in 29 receptions. Copeland also snagged five receiving touchdowns while averaging 21.1 yards a catch.
Standing at 6-foot-1 , and weighing 192 pounds Copeland has the perfect build of being a every down receiver. Copeland shows great footwork while running his routes against opposing corners. The talented receiver also shows break away speed which gives him the ability to easily get behind opposing defensive backs.
Florida is looking to stack up wide out this class and adding Copeland would be a huge get. With already having four star Jaylon Watkins committed it looks like Mullen is recruiting game changers at the position. Copeland just recently received a in home visit from Mullen and multiple coaches (first reported by Blake Alderman on Florida.247sports.com).

This increases Florida chances on getting Copeland back, he’s also visiting Gainesville Feb. 2, a few days before National Signing Day. I feel at the end of the day Copeland joins the class, however it’s recruiting anything could happen.
