Believe it or not, UC Davis and Stanford have something in common: they both lost to San Diego State in 2017. The FCS foe finished the season 5-6 and didn’t quite make any noise at that level while the Cardinal were bowl-bound and had a solid campaign.

The two teams won’t be all that evenly-matched in 2018 as UC Davis travels to Stanford for a Week 3 matchup. The Aggies return starting quarterback Jake Maier who passed for over 3,600 yards and 26 touchdowns in 2017 but he’s losing his top receiver Keelan Doss. He’ll struggle against the Cardinal early before padding stats in garbage time.

KJ Costello will go off against a mediocre passing defense, racking up over 300 yards for the first time on the year and hitting his tight ends early and often up the seams.

Bryce Love will finish with over 150 yards, but that’s about it as he won’t even need to take the field in the fourth quarter. He’s going to get about 15 carries to reach that mark and the Cardinal will run away with this win.

Final Score: UC Davis 13, Stanford 41 (3-0)
