There will be some major competition for starting receiver in 2018, and the pot will be stirred even more with the return of Jared Cornelius who missed all but three games in 2017 after suffering an Achilles injury  in the season’s first month of action.

Cornelius’ return means that Jonathan Nance and Deon Stewart aren’t guaranteed starting roles despite leading the Razorbacks in 2017. They are favorites to contend for time in the rotation, but could a guy like Michael Woods rise up and steal some snaps as a true freshman? It’s possible.

With a new offense in place under Chad Morris, the possibilities are endless. He’s an offensive mind who isn’t afraid to mix things up, even if that means inserting an inexperienced player to the lineup. Woods is an early enrollee, so that will help his chances, and he’s incredibly physical for his position, has great hands and can catch passes in traffic.

Woods is a 6-foot-1, 188-pound receiver from Magnolia, Texas, and was ranked the No. 423 overall recruit and 70th-best receiver in the 2018 class, per 247Sports. Keep an eye on him this spring.
