There were two major hauls in the secondary for Notre Dame on NSD. The first was four-star cornerback Noah Boykin, who actually is a higher ranked recruit than a native of the nation’s capitol D.J. Brown.

However, there’s some intangibles that Brown brings to the table that could make him valuable, even as a freshman. He’s got more developed size and ball skills than Boykin does, which means he’s more likely to see the field as a freshman, and maybe even get a start later in the year.

Learning under rising junior cornerback, and ball hawking defensive back, Julian Love is a luxury for both Boykin and Brown. Love is among the best returning corners in the entire country, and it’s going to be tough for Kelly to take him off the field ever.

Early season matchups that should favor the Irish by a large margin against the Vanderbilt Commodores and Ball State Cardinals offers Brown a quick opportunity to establish himself as a valuable piece of the future of the secondary. Notre Dame is lucky to land two talented corners in just one day in the same class.
