1. Sam Ehlinger or Shane Buechele?

Extending on the last question mark facing Tom Herman this spring, it’s time to get a bit more specific. Who will the head coach decide to go with this spring, Shane Buechele or Sam Ehlinger?

Each quarterback brings something different to the table. Buechele has one more year of starting experience under his belt and didn’t look all that bad in 2017 despite “losing” his starting job to a freshman. Ehlinger, on the other hand, has a bigger frame and can absorb contact better, making him a true threat to run — he actually led the team with 381 rushing yards in 2017.

While the incoming freshmen early enrollees have the potential to lead the Longhorns one day, this seems like a two-man race between Buechele and Ehlinger and a winner has yet to be chosen.

It may seem as if Ehlinger is the favorite after his freshman year performance, but you can’t forget just how solid Buechele looked as a true freshman in 2016. This is one of the most intriguing quarterback battles in the nation this spring.
