Former Florida wide receiver Antonio Callaway had another negative issue come up of late, significantly damaging what was left of his 2018 NFL Draft stock.

Florida football will send another good size class to the NFL in 2018. This one might not be as deep as the program had in year’s past, but they are sending a ton of talent to the next level. If one of their more talented players of the past three years, versatile wide receiver Antonio Callaway, could actually stay on the field he would be a top prospect in this class.

To give fans an idea of how good Callaway was when he was on the field in his time with the Gators, he racked up more than 750 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns in 2016. He added another touchdown by way of punt return that same year.

However, the odd the field issues that have plagued Callaway at Florida and beyond, have significantly diminished his value in this wide receiver class. If not for all this, he’d likely be selected by the second or third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Now, his best chance likely falls at getting a shot as an undrafted free agent.

For all intents and purposes, the opportunity for Callaway to make an impact as an actual draftee is in the past. The Gators have a ton of talent in their receiving corps, that included Callaway for at least the 2015 and 2016 seasons. He didn’t even see the field in a Florida uniform in 2017.

Some team will probably take a shot with Callaway as a free agent at some point during the off-season. Callaway has just way too much talent to be completely overlooked, despite all the suspensions, and his most recently failed drug test that broke headlines on April 25,  one day before the official start of the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
