On the final day of the 2018 NFL Draft with West Virginia football’s Kyzir White became one of the most valuable Round 4 picks.
More: Biggest storylines from Day 2 of the NFL Draft
West Virginia football had a thin class sent to the next level for the 2018 NFL Draft. There should be a deeper talent pool coming out of Morgantown for the 2019 NFL Draft, with guys like quarterback Will Grier and wide receivers David Sills V and Gary Jennings.
West Virginia had an experienced secondary last year, with Kyzir White leading the way. Even though the Mountaineers saw mixed results from the defense in 2017, White was a steadying force.
White was a top pick on Day 3 of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was the first name off the board among other highly regarded Day 3 safeties including Armani Watts of the Texas A&M Aggies, Marcus Allen of the Penn State Nittany Lions, and DeShon Elliott of the Texas Longhorns.
Bleacher Report has White ranked as the top remaining safety available entering the final rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft. He brings a solid physical presence to whatever team brings him into the mix on the defensive side of the ball. White also has the maturity in his game that makes him ready to compete for a starting role immediately.
Since a safety like Alabama Crimson Tide product Ronnie Harrison and Stanford Cardinal product Justin Reid dropped to the third round, the position is slipping a bit in this draft. That led a player the level of White to slip into the conversation of a fourth or fifth round pick. If he slips any further than that, some team has a real bargain on their hands and one of the best value picks of the draft.

With a fourth round pick, 119th overall, head football coach Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams pulled the trigger on selecting White. He’s a solid addition to a secondary that could use some more depth in a building NFC West. With all that the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers did do bolster their offenses, this is a great move to add White to the mix for the Rams, and could be one of the better picks of day 3.
