Maryland football had a rough 2017, and that’s putting it generously. From the start the Terps were beaten and bruised. Outside of a stunning upset of No. 23 Texas in Austin to open the season the Terps did not have many reasons to celebrate. They would go on to win three other games, two in conference. Beating Minnesota and Indiana was a step in the right direction, but Maryland never came too close to felling any of the bigger names in the Big Ten.

They’ll try to put a dismal 4-8 record behind them and start fresh in 2018. The expectations at Maryland aren’t through the roof, but third year head coach D.J. Durkin needs to show some signs of life this season.

Bowl eligibility would be a step in the right direction, but achieving that end is far from a guarantee at Maryland. The Terps have been to four bowls in the last nine seasons, most recently earning an invitation to the Quick Lane Bowl in 2016.

Here are the names to know for the Terps on both sides of the ball as they try to go bowling in 2018.
