A few different Group of Five conference programs are vying for the commitment of three-star defensive end Tyler Guidry, like Western Kentucky football.

Slipping under the radar is something that three-star defensive ends get used to around big time programs like the LSU Tigers. However, this three-star defensive end and Louisiana native Tyler Guidry has some offers from some solid Group of Five programs nonetheless.

Guidry took the time to catch up with us here at Saturday Blitz, and give us a different view of his recruiting process so far. He’s part of the 2019 recruiting class, and looks to make his way up to the college level garnering more attention than he’s getting now.

He is ranked as a top 50 prospect out of Louisiana in the 2019 class, according to 247Sports. Guidry currently holds offers from 10 different schools including the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, Arkansas State Red Wolves, Southern Miss Golden Eagles, and Rice Owls.

Q: For some people that don’t follow recruiting in Louisiana too close, tell us a little bit about your football background and what your favorite team was growing up?
A: I’ve been playing football since I was 4 years old. I played for the Oakside Panthers. My favorite team is the San Francisco 49ers.

Q: You’ve got an underrated skill set that fans at the next level could notice very soon, what do you feel is the strongest part of your game?
A: The strongest part of my game is my get off speed. It separates me from other defensive ends.

Q: As a Baton Rouge native, LSU must have a huge presence in the football landscape at your high school. Would LSU be your dream destination or is there another school?
A: I was always and still am an LSU fan. It was always a dream school to go to but I like SMU and TCU.

Q:  Is there any player that you like at the college level right now?
A: I liked Arden Key he just got drafted but that’s who I watched the most because our play style is the same.

Q: Some of the most consistently solid Group of Five schools have offered you like Arkansas State and Western Kentucky that could help you find success in your college career. What excites you most about playing at the next level?
A: I love the college atmosphere. I love the crowd hyping me up.

It’s always great to see some of the most overlooked high school prospects in the country get to develop into potential NFL prospects. Guidry could have the opportunity for that given the right situation in his final destination for his college career.
