Rutgers football looks to reverse its fate after two consecutive losing seasons. The Scarlet Knights hope to put together a winning season for the first time since 2014.

Despite two straight losing seasons, Rutgers has voiced confidence in head coach Chris Ash, who now enters his third season at the helm of the Scarlet Knights football program. He figures to be a long-term option after receiving a contract extension through the 2022 season last November.

Rutgers, meanwhile, will be celebrating its half-decade mark in the Big Ten Conference since entering the league prior to the 2014 season.

The Scarlet Knights are rebounding off a 4-8 season after dropping their final three games of the season to Penn State, Indiana and Michigan State. Rutgers hasn’t made a bowl appearance since 2014 and that was at least something to be expected for past Rutgers football teams under the tutelage of Greg Schiano.

The uptick in competition since joining the nation’s oldest conference has left the Scarlet Knights struggling to find a winning formula, but hope is on the horizon as some young talent can revitalize a Rutgers team that has been in the doldrums for the past two seasons.
