Florida Football: Tim Tebow inducted into Ring of Honor
Tim Tebow changed Florida Football forever. Now the Gators are honoring their legendary quarterback by inducting him into their Ring of Honor.
As a Florida State alum, Tim Tebow’s awesomeness is a sad reminder of a rough period in Seminole history. (The mid-2000s were not kind to the ‘Noles). Tebow was an integral part of UF’s reign of terror from 2006-09. I must begrudgingly admit that Tim Tebow was one of the best players to come out of the University of Florida.
As a freshman, quarterback Tebow was instrumental in winning a national title for the Gators. He repeated the feat again in 2008. He was nominated for the Heisman three times, and won it as a sophomore in 2007. He was also a decorated gridiron veteran–Tebow won the Maxwell Award twice, the Davey O’Brien award, and the SEC Offensive Player of the Year twice. He also shattered SEC records for total touchdowns with 145
Tebow’s record at Florida was amazing. He gained 9,286 passing yards, 88 touchdowns, 2,947 yards rushing and 57 touchdowns in a measly four years. UF announced on Wednesday that it would be honoring Tebow on Oct. 6 by inducting him into their Ring of Honor.
Tebow is only the sixth player to be given this honor. Previous inductees have been legendary, irascible coach Steve Spurrier; running back Emmitt Smith, and quarterback Danny Wuerffel.
They will unveil his name at the LSU game in October. Tebow says of the honor,
"I am so humbled and thankful to be able to receive this blessing, being inducted into the Ring of Honor. I know in my heart that I truly couldn’t have done it without amazing coaches and teammates who loved and sacrificed for each other so that we could accomplish our goals…God Bless and Go Gators!"

The Florida Gators have turned a corner, and it looks like 2018 may bring them back as a force in the SEC East. Having Tebow show up at the LSU rivalry game should only serve to inspire the players further.
