Florida Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2018 season
Last, but certainly not least, is the rivalry game between the Gators and the Florida State Seminoles. These two teams don’t like each other and the rivalry will be somewhat renewed with both programs going through coaching changes.
Willie Taggart has taken over in Tallahassee and he’s leading one of the more talented teams in the ACC with a new coaching staff with him. Florida State is going to surprise some people this season and keep pace with Clemson, for the most part. The Seminoles are still a year away from competing for the conference title.
They have a bit of a quarterback controversy heading into the season, but I foresee Deondre Francois winning the job as a junior and leading the Seminoles’ offense back to its dominant ways. He’ll have a plethora of solid weapons and Cam Akers will have a big season, and a monstrous day against the Gators.
Florida, too, is a year or two away from conference title contention, but this game will show that the Seminoles are a tad further along than the Gators.
Florida State will hold on to the gator head.
Final Score: Florida 17, Florida State 31 (8-4)
