Clemson football comes into the 2018 season as one of the favorites to win the national championship. Furman is the first obstacle on the schedule.

The Tigers ended last season on a sour note, getting beat handily by Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinals 24-6. That loss is still fresh in the minds of many of the players on this team and they will look to make an early statement against Furman.

Even though most Week 1 Power Five matchups versus FCS opponents are blowouts that doesn’t mean you can’t expect big-time performances from key players on the Tigers roster.

What are going to be some of the major things to happen in this game? Who will enter the season hot by making an immediate impact for the Tigers?

Here’s a look at my three bold predictions for this matchup as Clemson takes on the Paladins.

3. Tavien Feaster scores three touchdowns in first half

The Tigers are loaded at the running back position and have arguably one of the top five units in the country. They are led by Tavien Feaster who has been named the starter and should get a majority of the carries In this game.

In my bold predictions piece for the Tigers, I said that Feaster will score 20 touchdowns starting with this game. Furman simply just is not athletic enough on the defensive side of the football to slow down the Clemson rushing attack.

Even though Kelly Bryant led the team in rushing touchdowns last season I expect the offense to run through Feaster. Instead of having to rely on Kelly Bryant to do everything for this offense in the red-zone look for Tavien to make an immediate impact in this game.

He should find the end zone early and by the fourth quarter will be sitting on the sidelines as the rest of the running backs take over the game.
