4. The tight end position is everything the Aggie offense needed and more

If you haven’t heard- Aggie Football hasn’t exactly been privy to tight end use in recent years. In all actuality, the last tight end touchdown dates back to the 2016 season against New Mexico State- and it was the only one that season. Forget the extra blocking provided by a good tight end. The position wasn’t recruited by Kevin Sumlin much at all and as a result was scarcely used.

A new coach means a new look and a new feel to the offense. That is exactly what the Aggies got on Thursday night when Jace Sternberger took the field. He caught five passes and scored two touchdowns against Northwestern State. His highlights are shown below if you missed them or simply want to watch again.

Texas A&M Football needed this position like Vanderbilt needs their high athlete GPA to stay relevant in the SEC. Sternberger not only showed his offensive ability, but also his blocking prowess. Both will be necessary as the Aggies face off against Clemson and Alabama this month.

Is Sternberger really as great as everyone seems to think or are Aggie fans just excited to finally have a tight end that is actually seeing the field? That question remains to be answered, but you never know- the kid could be a difference maker this season.
