5. Georgia at South Carolina

The top-five rated Georgia Bulldogs are traveling to Columbia, S.C., to face the Gamecocks at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS. You should get excited for this game because it’s Kirby Smart against Will Muschamp and both are former Nick Saban defensive coordinators who run the football and play stingy defense.

The Bulldogs lost the national title by an overtime touchdown pass and are expected to return to the SEC Championship Game and College Football Playoff. Smart has been recruiting second to only Alabama, and maybe even ahead of the Tide.

The Gamecocks weren’t even ranked in the top 25 to start the season but Muschamp promises a more wide open offense. Both teams enter the contest 1-0 and the Gamecocks are led by quarterback Jake Bentley while the Dawgs are guided by Jake Fromm. This is a battle of the less than Jakes. Bentley threw for 250 yards and four touchdowns in the opener while Fromm averaged 9.81 yards per attempt with two touchdowns through the air.

The Bulldogs have elite young talent in James Cook, Dalvin’s kin, who ran six times for 66 yards in his debut. They also have freshman quarterback Justin Fields who played in week one averaging 7.88 yards per attempt and throwing one touchdown himself. The question will be if the Gamecocks can score with the Bulldogs and against the UGA defense.

Prediction: Georgia 42, South Carolina 20
