West Virginia football hopes to replicate its Week 1 performance against Tennessee in its home opener versus Youngstown State on Saturday evening.

After an impressive neutral-site victory in the opener, the Mountaineers return to Morgantown where they’ll face the Youngstown State Penguins on Saturday, Sept. 8.

Facing Youngstown State after playing a SEC team isn’t unfamiliar to the Mountaineers, though, as that’s exactly how they opened the 2016 season. The Southeastern Conference team was Missouri, but the outcome was the same as Saturday’s win versus Tennessee.

The Penguins lost a close one in their season-opener, falling to Butler, 23-21. As members of the Missouri Valley Conference, Youngstown State is literally — and figuratively — out of their league when it comes to sharing a field with the Mountaineers’ football program. West Virginia won the 2016 contest 38-21.

What should we expect come Saturday evening? Will West Virginia be critical of their approach early? Will they over-look the Penguins? Is Youngstown State completely over-matched? We’ve got three bold predictions to satisfy you till kickoff.
