Florida Football: Preview, prediction, live stream vs. Kentucky in Week 2
By Shelbie Warr
The SEC East opens conference play as the Kentucky Wildcats head to the Swamp to take on Florida football. Here’s our preview of the matchup.
The Florida Gators have found themselves ranked in the AP Top 25 after a thumping of Charleston Southern in Week 1. The question now is if the Gators deserve to be ranked or not. Of course, the Kentucky Wildcats aren’t exactly the best to make that determination, but we will do what we can with what we have I guess.
The Gators, led by Dan Mullen, are looking to turn around the hot mess that has happened in the Swamp in the past few seasons. Does he have the team to make the necessary changes to push toward a championship. This is a team that just a few years ago won the SEC East and now they are scrounging to compete. Do they have what it takes?
Here’s how to watch the Week 2 matchup:
Date: Saturday, Sept. 8
Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
Location: Gainesville, Fla.
Venue: Ben Hill Griffin Stadium
Network: SEC Network
TV: WatchESPN • FuboTV
Keys to Victory
For the Gators, they simply have to continue doing what they have done for 31 straight against the Wildcats of Kentucky: win. It will need to feature a strong offensive showing and a defense able to put a stop to Benny Snell who seems to think he’s the second coming of Adrian Peterson or Derrick Henry.
For the Wildcats, they will have to beat the odds — literally. There are very few people who have picked the Wildcats to come out of the Swamp with a 2-0 record. It will take a complete team performance to take down Dan Mullen and the Gators.

Prediction
This game is pretty much decided in my book. The Gators have everything they need to extend their win streak to 32 games. Does that mean that the Gators are SEC East competitors? Probably not, though this game will be part of their path to proving it. Florida has found their way into the top 25 and this game will show how long they will stay there.
The Wildcats hang around for a bit, but once again it isn’t enough to make this one a win for the blue and white. Instead it is another tick in the win column for those already counting down to basketball season.
Final Score: Florida 30, Kentucky 17
