Stanford Football: 5 players who earned Blitz Stickers in USC victory
5. Jake Bailey, Punter
One of the biggest keys to victory is excelling on special teams, especially in the punting game. Whether it’s flipping field position or pinning the opposing team inside their own 20-yard line, a punter can play just as big as a role as any other player. Which brings us to our first Blitz Sticker recipient, punter Jake Bailey.
Although he did not have any punts inside the 20, Bailey had a busy and successful night. Bailey punted the ball eight times, averaging just under 44-yards a punt and had a punt that went for 66-yards. Bailey played an important tole in flipping field position as the Trojans only had two drives after a Stanford punt that started outside the USC 30-yard line.
Through two games, Jake Bailey has shown why he is one of college football’s best punters, averaging 45.8 yards a punt, ranking 10th in the nation. If he keeps it up, this won’t be last time he earns a Blitz Sticker.
