Stanford football is coming off a huge rivalry win against USC and the Cardinal will look to carry over the momentum against UC Davis without Bryce Love.

Losing Bryce Love to injury this early in the season is tough, but when UC Davis is the next team on the docket, Stanford shouldn’t fret too much.

The Cardinal are 2-0 and riding high after an impressive 17-3 win over USC in Week 2, but the Aggies, too, are unbeaten and will be playing with nothing to lose. They are averaging nearly 50 points per game, but don’t sleep on Stanford and KJ Costello. The young quarterback has been more than impressive in his first two weeks as the full-time starter.

Saturday afternoon’s game will be a nice test for the Cardinal as they get set to take on No. 22 Oregon in Week 4.

Stanford may have its hands full without Love on Saturday — or will it?

3. Cameron Scarlett rushes for 150 yards

No Bryce Love, no problem. Though he’s been relatively silent this season, Cameron Scarlett is going to break out and put the run game on his back with 150-plus yards against UC Davis on Saturday afternoon.

The senior running back has been dead-silent this season, rushing 12 times for just 28 yards and he has yet to cross the goal-line. That will change against UC Davis as he’ll hit that 150-yard mark, the highest of his career, and he’s going to score at least one touchdown.

Scarlett’s best career game was against UCLA last year when he rushed eight times for 86 yards, but he’ll account for 21 carries for 156 yards and a score.

Love will come back healthy in Week 4, but Scarlett is going to make sure there’s no serious drop-off when the Heisman-caliber back is out.
