2. Tom Herman isn’t living up to expectations

When the Longhorns hired Tom Herman away from Houston before the 2017 season, fans were excited and ready to hit it big once more. They were expecting national championships, big time wins, and a return to being “the best school in Texas.” However, none of that has come. That isn’t to say that there isn’t talent in Austin, but it is to say that Tom Herman isn’t utilizing that talent.

This team is under a rebuilding era, no matter what the media tries to tell you. While that is true, I don’t see the Tom Herman era lasting long in Austin. In first two seasons, Herman’s team has fallen to Maryland in the opening matchup. Not exactly a promising start to a team that thrives on national relevancy and media attention.

He does have a winning record as the Longhorns, but 8-7 isn’t exactly something to be excited about. I simply don’t think that Tom Herman has the coaching chops to pull this Longhorn team out of the dumpster fire that has overtaken them. Will he prove me wrong this season? After a loss to Maryland and almost losing to Tulsa, it doesn’t seem likely.
