2. Scottie Phillips rushes for over 200 yards

There haven’t been many more impressive breakout candidates in college football the caliber of Scottie Phillips, a JUCO transfer running back.

In his first year with the Rebels, he has 43 rushes for 355 yards and four touchdowns. In his first-ever game with Ole Miss, he rushed for over 200 yards and two touchdowns, averaging a staggering 12.8 yards per carry. How’s that for a first impression?

The next week, he rushed for 107 yards and two more scores against Southern Illinois, averaging 7.1 yards per touch. This kid has been impressing just about everyone and that’s going to continue against Kent State’s lackluster run defense.

Phillips will record his second 200-yard rushing game of his young Ole Miss career, giving fans a reason to fill the stadium on Saturdays.

Ole Miss fans better hope he sticks around for another season, leading this program back to a bowl game, but he’s on pace to be the most unlikely Heisman contender in the country.
