College Football Hot Seat 2018: 5 coaches who must win in Week 5
By Shelbie Warr
5. Willie Taggart, Florida State Seminoles
To say that Florida State has struggled so far this season is being nice. With Jimbo Fisher leaving for Texas A&M in the offseason, this program has undergone a huge makeover. This is no longer Fisher’s team. They no longer operate by his rules or play his game. This is now all about Willie Taggart and so far, he hasn’t done all that well — at all.
His team sits at 2-2 and while that isn’t obnoxiously bad, it surely isn’t what the Seminole fans expected. They talked trash all offseason, talking about how they didn’t need Jimbo Fisher and how he hadn’t helped them all that much anyway. If that was true, Taggart really hasn’t helped at all either in the four games that he has been at the helm of the program.
This week, the Seminoles play the Louisville Cardinals. This is a must win game for the morale of this program and for the fate of Willie Taggart. I’m sorry Florida State, and this isn’t the Aggie fan in me saying I told you so, but Taggart isn’t the guy for you. I can’t even say I believe that he will make it through the season at Florida State at this point.
