3. Jordan Scarlett 100 yards

Jordan Scarlett is more than capable of passing the century mark on the ground. He accomplished that feat three times in 2017, but hasn’t come close this season, thanks in large part to a limited amount of opportunity.

Three different running backs have carried the ball at least 19 times. Scarlett’s 30 carries accounts for 32.3 percent of the non-quarterback carries for the Gators so far, and it’s nearly half as much work as he got in his last fully healthy season in 2016 when he carried the ball a team-high 179 times.

Dan Mullen has always relied heavily on his quarterback to pick up yardage with his legs and that’s been true of his offensive philosophy with the Gators so far. He’s always complimented that scheme with a primary tailback. Scarlett is the No. 1 guy for the Gators and it’s time he got it going on the ground and cemented his status as the team’s go-to guy.

If Scarlett can get the touches, he’ll have plenty of opportunities to gash a Mississippi State defense that just gave up 165 yards and four touchdowns to Kentucky’s Benny Snell in Week 4.
