3. Split one between LSU and Auburn

With one of the toughest October schedules of any team in college football, Mississippi State would be ecstatic to come out on top with a 2-1 record.

Auburn awaits the Bulldogs in Week 6 but the game takes place in Starkville. That’s a huge advantage for Joe Moorhead and Co. as the Tigers are looking to gain some momentum in the SEC title race. This would be a good chance for the Bulldogs to bounce back and make a statement after two consecutive losses.

Beating Auburn is a possibility but so is stealing one on the road against LSU. The Tigers seem to give away a game each year against a team they should beat at home. This could be that matchup, though Mississippi State is better than other teams the Tigers have ‘given up’ wins to at home.

Mississippi State will split these two games, either upsetting Auburn at home in Week 6 or taking LSU down on the road in Week 8.

I’m going with a win over Texas A&M, though it’ll be a good game, in Week 9 at home.
