4. D’Andre Swift steps up, takes control of No. 1 job

This is not a knock on Elijah Holyfield, but D’Andre Swift was expected to be the No. 1 back heading into the season and hasn’t exactly lived up to the hype — just yet.

The Bulldogs have an impressive stable of running backs at their disposal and Holyfield has led the way with 368 yards and two touchdowns on 7.1 yards per carry. Swift has had the exact same number of carries through the first month (52) but has just 240 yards and four touchdowns. He’s averaging less than 5.0 yards per touch, but that’ll change in the coming weeks.

While Holyfield may be thought of as the team’s top back right now, Swift will take over that role with a 300-yard month where he averages at least 6.0 yards per touch.

Swift had a huge freshman season as he rushed for 618 yards and three touchdowns on just 81 carries — averaging 7.6 per touch. He’ll look more like he did last season when he played third-fiddle to Sony Michel and Nick Chubb, and that’s not a bad thing.
