2. Joe Burrow is a middle-of-the-road quarterback in the SEC

Everyone has been talking about how good Joe Burrow has been for LSU, me included. He even had a pretty decent game against Florida- all things considered. However, I am not sure that he has what it takes to be an elite SEC quarterback. He has enough to bring his team to a ranked spot and keep them there throughout the season, but he isn’t going to take his team to a national championship.

At this point, we should be talking more about Burrow’s surrounding talent than we are about him. He has a strong defense, led by Michael Divinity III. They make it pretty easy for him to play quarterback when they are shutting down opposing offenses — except for Auburn of course. He has strong running backs and big time receivers to get the ball to that have made this 5-0 run possible. Now, however, they sit at 5-1 with a loss to Florida.

He’s got a lot of work to do if he thinks being just good enough is going to bring you a win against Georgia or Alabama. Right now, he sits in the middle of the road in terms of quarterbacks in the SEC. You have great guys like Tua Tagovailoa and Jake Fromm and Burrow just isn’t there, not yet anyway.
