UCF pushed the nation’s longest FBS winning streak to 18 games with a 48-20 shutdown of SMU in Orlando on Saturday evening. The Knights showcased both their offense and their defense in the win to remain among less than a dozen undefeated teams still alive in the top division of college football.

With the win, UCF could potentially push up into the top 10 of the AP Top 25, setting themselves up to make a dark-horse run at the College Football Playoff later this season if they can keep the winning ways going. McKenzie Milton showed why he is a Heisman threat, finishing with 278 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Adrian Killins Jr. posted another 100-yard rushing day, ending the day with 113 and a touchdown, while Otis Anderson added 74 yards and two scores on a half-dozen carries..

The Knights still need to beat the perception of being a mid-major team. But with at least one of their fellow undefeated AAC East teams vaulting up into the AP Top 25 this week, they could have two more showcases against ranked competition before the regular season is in the books.
