LSU Football welcomes the Georgia Bulldogs to Death Valley on Saturday afternoon. What needs to happen for the Tigers to spring an upset?

The LSU Tigers get no quarter from the scheduling gods this season. Fresh off a hard fought and physical affair in the Swamp last weekend that saw LSU football suffer their first loss of the season, there is no time to lick the wounds. The No. 2, and defending SEC Champion, Georgia Bulldogs are invading Baton Rouge with a perfect 6-0 record that includes a 4-0 mark in SEC play.

Georgia fancies themselves as the biggest threat to Alabama’s reign on college football, a seat that for a long time was occupied by LSU. In recent seasons, LSU has faded from a legitimate threat to the Crimson Tide to a mere blip on the radar, coinciding with the rise of Kirby Smart’s crew in Athens.

After a 5-0 start to the season that included a pair of marquee victories, fans in Baton Rouge allowed themselves to believe that this iteration of the Tigers had a real shot to compete for not only an SEC Championship but a spot in the college football playoff as well. Last week’s loss to Florida was a stumbling block, but not an insurmountable obstacle if they can right the ship this week.

A win over Georgia would throw LSU right back into the thick of the playoff race, and set up a showdown with Alabama in Baton Rouge on Nov. 2, provided that the Tigers can get past Mississippi State next week unscathed – a game that is all the more concerning now that State has righted the ship in their own right.

Last week’s loss to Florida means that LSU can ill-afford another blemish on their record. The defeat in the Swamp wasn’t back-breaking, but it did remove all of their margin-for-error. It made this showdown with Georgia a must-win – a loss here would likely eliminate them from the SEC West race before they even get the crack at Alabama that they most desperately covet.

What are some reasons that LSU will pull the upset and hand Georgia their first loss of the season?
