Florida football looks to keep momentum going against Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon. Can the Gators dominate the Commodores as expected?

Who predicted Florida would be one of the best teams in the SEC at this point in the season? Definitely not me, but the Gators have been one of college football’s best surprises and they have to thank Dan Mullen for the quick turnaround. No longer is this program resting near the bottom of the conference standings.

Coming off their biggest win of the season against LSU, the Gators look to be headed in the right direction. Heck, ever since that home loss to a surprising Kentucky team, Florida has been one of the best teams in the country.

Mullen’s Gators travel to Nashville for a big Week 7 battle with a Vanderbilt team that’s looking to stay afloat in the hunt for bowl eligibility.

Florida will look to keep momentum rolling on Saturday afternoon.

3. Jordan Scarlett finally breaks out

I’m a big believer in Jordan Scarlett. After missing the entire 2017 season, he has been eased into a bigger role with the Gators. He didn’t finish with more than 10 carries through the first three weeks, but that has changed in the past three games.

Despite the increased role, Scarlett has yet to reach the 100-yard mark. He has 35 rushes for 163 yards and a touchdown over the past three contests following a strong 19 carries for 105 yards and a score in the first three weeks.

Everything will turn around in Week 7 as Scarlett will go off for 150 yards and two touchdowns, breaking his previous season highs in both categories.

The junior running back is fully capable of a game like this and he’ll go off against a team that allows nearly 170 yards per game on the ground.
