After upsetting LSU, Florida football travelled to Nashville to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Gators left with a win, but it was ugly.

The Florida Gators were the talk of the town after upsetting LSU. Everyone was sure that they were set to be a dark horse in the SEC East. However, if they play the way they did against Vanderbilt- that dream is all but dead.

The Commodores are the most inconsistent team in the SEC, except that they are consistently nearly upsetting teams. To say that the Gators have more question marks than answers at this point is putting it mildly.

Let’s talk takeaways shall we?

3. Vanderbilt has bought into Derek Mason and that is something

Vanderbilt isn’t consistent. The Commodores aren’t a feared SEC East squad. However, they gave the Florida all they could handle in an early morning matchup live from Nashville. The Gators won by 10, but it should have been by more and I can promise Gator fans aren’t too happy about this win.

We did learn one thing from the Commodores this week though and that is that they have truly bought into Derek Mason as their head coach. When Dan Mullen and Derek Mason were jawing off against each other- the Commodore team was more than ready to back up their head coach as they stormed the field ready to take on the whole Gator sideline.

That is the start of making a good team, really buying into their head coach. Watch out for the Commodores, they may be more than just grades in this conference sooner rather than later.
