Miami Football: 3 takeaways from ugly loss to Virginia in Week 7
2. Miami has a serious quarterback problem
If you’re Mark Richt, where do you even go from here? The Hurricanes felt good about N’Kosi Perry going into the game — or so we thought — but things have changed in an instant.
Perry got off to a rough start, throwing two interceptions on six pass attempts and putting Miami behind early on. Richt decided to bench the young passer in favor of the veteran Malik Rosier, much to the dismay of Miami fans.
The short leash was expected, by Richt, to spark the offense, but it didn’t quite go over as planned. Sure, Rosier had decent numbers, completing 12-of-23 passes for 170 yards, but he did have an interception with no touchdowns and the Hurricanes finished with only 13 points.
Richt has created a quarterback controversy with the switch — his second such switch this season. Who will start when the Hurricanes take the field next? Perry may have a higher upside, but Rosier has the experience.
There’s a quarterback problem in Miami.
